Day 38- Thinking about home

Day 38 already! Can't believe I've been here that long, although it's not so long :D. Finland has crossed my mind more often now. I really miss some things from home.. But still I really like being here, thinking that this is ''once in a life time''-chance, untill I start studying again and hopefully go abroad to do an internship. I really appreciate this opportunity that I'd given. All may not have the chance to go abroad. But if you are thinking about going abroad for an internship or anything else, go for it!

This far I definitely have learned a lot about English, I feel more confident about speaking English and of course, writing stories.

I arrived at 11am to work today. It was a very beautiful morning, once again :). I worked on that dress which needed a new lining to the skirt. Then I did some little things, like posting a pic on our Instagram and repairing another dress.

Day 37- Chilling on Sunday

Hello, on Sunday I was feeling quite lazy so I wasn't doing much. I went shopping though (again). I found nice boots and a dress. Then I bought another scarf and gloves, cause it's getting colder here too. It is still warm comparing to Finland, but the wind makes the temperature feel colder.

On my way home I had one obstacle in the underpass near my home. There was a flood, the underpass was covered with water and it didn't seem to flow in to the well. I had to find another route home.
In the end it was a nice day, being more relaxed than usual is good every now and then. Tomorrow back to work at 11am. :)

Day 36- The local area

This Saturday first thing in the morning I did laundry, went grocery shopping etc. When I got back home, I ate some lunch and went to explore the local area in Walthamstow. I found the Walthamstow market, which was on this street, and the street was so long..
They sold fresh veggies, fruits, clothes, Christmas gifts and anything you could imagine. There was many fabric stores and clothing shops also at the same street. And I found the local shopping center, ''The Mall''.

Day 35- Winter is coming

It is getting much colder here, so I can feel that winter is coming (and it's almost December!). British think that now when it's about +5 degrees, it is very cold. I think it's nothing yet :D.

Today I was alone at the studio. I finished the belt I had started, posted picture on Instagram, unpicked parts of one vintage dress and started making a new lining for a dress.

Day 34- Lace & Flowers

I've been making a veil and belt today at work. The veil is made of different types of fabrics, lace trimming and soft netting. The belt is made of silk and lace pieces. It's good to learn more about accessories too and there's more room for creativity. The materials are quite new to me, and mostly I mean the silk.

Tomorrow I'll continue making the belt and doing some alterations to garments and repairing clothes. Then weekend is here again, and this time I have no plans for the weekend. I wish I could find something interesting and new this weekend.
The fall is so beautiful here some mornings especially when the sun is shining and there's so pretty colors everywhere. I cannot believe that I have only 4 weeks left here. I don't feel like going back to Finland yet, but we'll see how I feel in December.

Day 33- Wedding Wednesday

Hello! Today is Wednesday and I really enjoyed my workday. I did some pattern altering, started making a veil, we had a photo shoot to take pictures of the new veil and then we cleaned up the whole studio and workroom. I learned some details about patterns and it was nice to play a bride once again :D

Another thing that made me happy today, was that there was no problems with the bus in the morning and I got to work early. The sun was shining in the morning and the city just looked so beautiful. Even though London is nice, wether it's raining or not, because I like rain.

Day 32- Back to work

Today at work I finished the top for a customer and packed it ready for sending it. Then I altered another top to make the lining longer, that it would be easy to try on with long skirts. Then I sew labels by hand and cut netting for veils.

On my way to work there was the most annoying traffic. I had to wait for a bus about an hour! Three buses drove pass the bus stop cause they were full, so I always had to wait for another one. Eventually I got to the bus and the went to work by tube. I was late, and I really hate being late, but there's not much to do about that.. It doesn't seem to help if I leave earlier.

When I went to buy lunch from the nearest Tesco, there was this kind and lovely cashier woman who always asks ''how are you?'' then she says ''it's nice to see you again''. That just made my day, cause I was little upset in the morning :). There's atleast one thing I love about London, nice people.
