Day 10- Victoria & Albert museum

So... Today I finally went to the Victoria and Albert museum. I took a bus from home and went to South Kensington's station by tube. And I have to mention that today was brilliant weather! The sun was shining and no rain at all :)

I had to see the shoe exhibition, cause if you did not know, I love shoes (high heels especially). Anyways, the exhibition cost 12£ and it was arranged in to floors. The exhibition was nice, tho it would have been larger. There was about 200 pairs of shoes from the ancient Egypt to today. There were some pairs worn or associated by Sarah Jessica Parker (from Sex & the City), Marilyn Monroe and Queen Victoria.

Besides all of the shoes on display, there was also shown how shoes are made from sketching to giving the shoe a final touch. And there was interview's about designing and making shoes. For example Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik were interviewed.

I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the shoes. So I don't have my own pics about the actual exhibition. But my favorite pair must be one of the Christian Louboutin's or Prada's.

Before seeing all the shoes, I checked out the fashion exhibition about clothing from early history to modern garments. Here are some pics from the fashion exhibition:

Day 9- Some shopping...

I met my classmate from Omnia today. Ilona is on vacation in London, so we decided to meet and spend a day together in the city. It rained today once in a while, it has been raining much less than I thought it would rain.

Tomorrow I will go to the Victoria and Albert museum. The exhibition about shoes fascinates me a lot since I am a shoe fan!

Here's my day in pictures:

I am seriously starting to like London! It might be hard to go back to Finland in December.. But I do miss some things from Finland, like the nature, some foods and my friends, family, my boyfriend and my workmates.

Day 8- Weekend is soon here!

Hello!
I went to work an hour later today, but I was surprised that there was no traffic at all, so the journey went just fine to work and back.

Today at work I didn't do anything so interesting or special, but it was a nice day anyways. I made some alterations to the wedding dress I am working on, organized some lace samples into a folder, copied patterns for kids clothing and sewed clasps.

I learned to sew more carefully the fragile fabric and I sew together the two layers in the bust dart, so it looks perfect. I really enjoy working with the patterns, even if it's just copying them. And it was nice to get to know things about kids pattern making.

Here's my day in pictures:

After work I went to check out the gym which is near by. It looked very nice, the functional are is large, there are few pools and group exercising, I'm looking forward to see Bopypump ála London :'D

Day 8- Working and loving the city!

Greetings from London again.. :) First about my work today. Today I started making a top piece for one of the wedding dresses. Before, I think yesterday I made the bottom (skirt) a little smaller from the waistline. So now I am working on the top. I also organized some kid's patterns.

I am very happy that I can work on this wedding dress. I am learning so much about it, and it is important to do thing that I haven't done before. It's a V-neck dress, lining is Viscose, outer fabric is some kind of a crepe silk. There is flowers sewn in the hem made of the same fabric as the dress. Later I will add the more flowers to make it look fuller and better.

Here are pictures while making the dress:

Today was a very nice day in many ways. I really enjoyed going to work, working, going back home and buying some food from the local store. I am starting to like London a lot. All the people are so kind, weather is just right for me, there is millions of places to shop and something interesting is happening all the time.

I also found a store today near my home where I got this prepaid sim-card for my phone. Now I have a 4G connection on my phone all the time. I love it, cause then I can track where I am if I get lost and it is so useful in many other ways too. It's totally been weird to live here without internet on my phone when I'm not home using my wifi. So it gets easier now to be connected with friends and family. :)

The weekend is coming soon. I guess I will go shopping on weekend, finding the gym, visiting V&A museum (Victoria & Albert) and just chill and enjoy being one of the Londoners! :)
